Excellent vid, I learned so much in so little time! Question: I am a user
of Sampletank, and other multi-timbral softsynths. How do I create 16 Midi
Channels into a preset so I don’t have to re-map and load my sampletank
sounds each time?
how do you get sylenth 1 on ableton pleas do a tutorial jou wil get many
many views with it
well, yes and no. I phrased it poorly, because the automation in the clips
and the arrangement are exactly the same – they are can be used
interchangeably. What I meant is that if you are in arrangement view, you
used to be able to double click on the clip and go into the envelopes and
do ‘clip automation’. That is no longer the case, all of those automatable
parameters are still automatable through the arrangement view but that
specific way of doing it is no longer available. Make sense?
Great usefull tips , i become a 0 switch adict
Great video and good descriptions/voice projection. Clearest ableton
tutorial I’ve watched keep it up
thanks alot for the response man π very helpfull !!!
Could I download the Max LFO somewhere? I had a look for it @ M4L couldn’t
see it? thanks for taking the time enjoyed a lot π
Well done. I love watching someone who can wip around Ableton this fast.
Workflow doesn’t get much attention in the video Tutorials. How about
constructing a few small drum and bass examples. You also mention creating
interesting sound clips…”do some every day”…..how about showing a few
of those. Thanks
great job!
Great video man, thanks alot π The Automation in clips in Arrangement view
has really shocked me .. does that mean that to control a parameter in
Arrangement, you HAVE to put that clip in Session ? I’ve been using ableton
for a while, and I do all my stuff in arrangement view because i do a lot
of chopping and micro edits, and that would really annoy me to have to
consolidate everything to put in the session to then bring back to
arrangement, is there a way to make it easier ?
because they completely changed the way clip automation works. it used to
scale off of the values of the knobs position, so if you had your filter at
50% going from 0-100% in clip automation would only sweep half your filter.
You can still do all the things that you used to be able to do, just a
slightly different method. if you have a clip in arrangement and you want
to use the clip interface for doing automation, copy the clip into session,
automate, then copy that clip to arrangement π
Great idea for a next tutorial, I’ll look into that and see if I can come
up with something in the next week or so. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks
for the kind words π
Sylenth is an external plugin, which means it doesn’t come with ableton. If
you have it: – install into the folder you wanna make your plugin-folder –
go into live preferences -> file/folder -> scan plugin folder (the one you
previously installed it to (should have a .dll in it somewhere) Hope that
helps. π
Pro Q is awesome but I don’t use it in Love because I think EQ 8 is up
there too now. π
TEAM Peace Out π
Killer tips, for someone whos been using the program for 5 years now I
learned a few things!
thankfully in live 9 the automation can peacefully co-exist back and forth
between session and arrange view. If you take a clip from the session view
that has automation in it and copy that clip to arrangement view, the
automation in your clips copies over to the arrangement view automation
lanes (though you might have to expand them to see all if you have a lot)
and vice versa, you can copy a clip (if its a bunch ofclips…consolidate)
over to session from arrangement and its right there!
glad you enjoyed it π The way I would accomplish that is to create a new
project and set everything up as you want it in the tracks. Then Group all
those tracks, name it “16” or something and save the project. Now, add that
folder into your “places” When you want to drop that preset group into a
project you’re working on, simply go to Places, then you’ll see the Project
Name of your project. Expand that and you should see the “16” (or whatever
you named your group) – now drag and drop π
Apologies for leaving the freakin hidden icons up on the screen the whole
time.
i have sylenth1 installed for live 8 and im not able to get it in live 9!
any ideas?
Thanks for the quick response man π I did understand that, but what i
truly wanted to know is “Can you automate anything in the clip while it’s
in Arrangement view?” because in the video you said at 11:20 you use to
edit things in the clip, but it doesn’t appear. Also you said “you cant do
clip automation editing in arragement view anymore” … I just want to know
if that is completly true π
showing key strokes without the actual menu command name is asking for
something to become deprecated.ο»Ώ
Intellij IDEA Tips
θ§ι’ιζε°δΊδΈι’θΏδΊεΏ«ζ·ζΉεΌοΌ
Use ^N (Alt + Insert) everywhere to create folders, classes or generate
getters, test methods, etc.
Use β§βF12 (Ctrl + Shift + F12) to expand the editor and hide tool windows.
Always use β§ββ (Ctrl + Shift + Enter) to complete statement.
Press β, (Ctrl + Alt + S) to open settings quickly.
Use default live templates or create custom ones. Use β₯ to complete live
template.
Use β₯β (Alt + Enter) for a quick-fix.
Use β₯^L (Ctrl + Alt + L) to format code. IntelliJ IDEA has advanced
formatter and smart code arranger options for all supported languages and
frameworks.
Use β§βT (Shift + Ctrl + T) to create or navigate to the test for current
class. This is a time-saver when you adopt test-driven development.
Use β₯βV (Ctrl + Alt + V) to introduce a variable quickly. No need in
selection. IntelliJ IDEA is smart enough to guess what you want at the
moment.
Use code completion twice to get more results. This includes completion of
static methods without typing class name (and not only).
Use β₯βC (Ctrl + Alt + C) to introduce a constant quickly. IntelliJ IDEA
will find and replace all code duplicates if you use β₯A.
Use β§^F10 (Ctrl + Shift + F10) to run code at the caret.
Use β₯ββ (Alt + Left) and β₯ββ (Alt + Right) to navigate between open tabs.
Jump to float navigation bar with ββ (Alt + Home). This is the most
convinient way to navigate between packages. It supports other shortcuts
like create class, folder, etc.
Use β§F10 (Shift + F10) to run the active run configuration.
Use βE (Ctrl + E) for navigation between recent files. It supports speed
search. Just start typing file or tool window you need and it will filter
the results.
Use β1 (Alt + 1) to show or hide the project view.

It would be nice if this was narrated so we know what is going on.ο»Ώ
I finally found the video where keyboard magic happens. Please, please do
not abandon the series, IDEA worth having such an inspirational videos.ο»Ώ
We need more please. Especially things like tracing code.
recommand the productivity plugin: emacsIDEAs, which includs acejump,
copywithoutselection, and highlight-symbol. github.com/whunmr/emacsIDEAs
Why would you ever use a mac for development? Its made for email, pictures,
and video. Nothing more…
Most of these are known things, but can be useful for many. The question is
“why Mac”? It’s quite confising to see familiar thingΡ done unfamiliar way
with that “magic” key. Subtitles of different color for PC would be nice!
Some voice comments also (just name the function being performed).
It’s time for “Part 2” after a year..
